67 GMC super custom build

goona start start a build thread for my 67 GMC super custom short bed big back window. 327 th400 going pretty much stock. adding cargo lamp, power windows from a 66 buick, am/fm stereo and 8 track player and tilt. also adding a headliner to my cab. all 67-72 era stuff. cab was fairly good but floor was rusty and took a few panels that were beter condition from a parts 67. this will be slow going but will be fun. enjoy the pic's.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

tryin to do most everything myself but finish bodywork in not something i have patience for or good at so i have to have a pro do that. $$$$. anyway havin my buddy powder coat the chassis and most of the black interior parts like the seat base, rear view mirror arm, pedals and mounting bracksts for most everything. absolutely everything will be replaced or refurbished as needed.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

had to buy aftermarket bedsides. mine were toast. unrepairable in my opinion. bought them from wes at classic heartbeat. they fit very nice. wish i could get a new small letter gmc gate. managed to find a straight black one locally. again bodywork. $$$.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I orginaly painted the frame but was unhappy how it looked so i will get it powdercoated hopefully in the next month or so. all the other chassis parts are already powdered exept leaf springs. they will remain painted. will post pics as i start to reasemble.

Rod, I am subscribed. My kind of style. Like high optioned builds. I for one say no white roof. Also, do you need me to fab up the original style brace that ran from the 8 track player to the heater duct? Trevor

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Very nice build, I was wondering if you had one since I had not seen one from you yet. Looks like a lot of high quality parts and work on this one! I'll be watching.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

it rained today so i rebuilt my fuel pump that was on my 327. had all the original bolts replated a while ago and used a kit that will work with modern day fuels.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I really like this build and the more options the better, like to see the power windows, why did you not put in cruise?

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

i am putting in cruise from a 68. some pic's in post 19. the one option i thought that these trucks should have been available with is power windows as the cars of there time had them available. purists will hate on them but they will be a nice add on.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

rained again today so had time to mess with the truck. I had 2 a/c vents from a 66 toronado and they have metal vent balls in them rather than the plastic ones the truck had so i decided to use them. When i took them apart i realised that they have baffles to turn down/off the single vent so i crafted those into my original vents. what do you think?

How did you I stall these shut off flaps? I recently bought the vent assembly from a 65 Buick wildcat and they use the same thing that you used from the 66 Buick but I can't seem to figure out how to take the flaps out of them to put them into the 67-72 vents..

Moched up. Now you wont see the seat from the back window. I am glad I did this.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

This switch bezel is exactly the same as the seat heat switch. Here is where they will mount. Just it will be flush with the bottom of the dash so all you would see is the words. I think if the modern harness will work with these switches I will do this mod.
