Hello
Just joined after my girlfriend got me an early Christmas present, '69 C10 short step side 350 4 speed project truck. I haven't picked it up yet, or even seen it in person, but we are supposed to get it either Saturday or sometime next week. From the pictures she took of the truck it appears to need a decent amount of work but is still salvageable. The bottom of the passenger door and passenger side rear fender is rotted along with the headliner and some surface rust here and there but otherwise it's not too bad considering it's been sitting for 10 years.
This won't be my first crack at this type of truck so I know what I'm getting myself into with it. A few years back I was working on a '69 GMC long bed step side. I had cut out all the rot and replaced it with new metal but before I could finish I moved and had no place to put it and work on it. I was telling my girlfriend about it and that's where she got the idea for my early Christmas gift. |

Do you mean the truck or the girlfriend is a keeper? She's defiantly a good girl. Apparently she had been planning on getting me a truck for a few weeks and I was the only one that didn't know it. Hopefully she sticks around with me for a while. |

Work for me is slow right now so funds are tight but just for future reference do you know of any local junkyards that have these kinds of trucks? I had a card from a guy that had a yard somewhere around Kingston but I can't find it anywhere and I don't know exactly where the place is. |

Re: Hello
Supposedly the place I'm picking up mine from have a few others for sale. I'll check out the prices and get back to you. The only problem is that it's all the way down in East Bridgewater MA so you're looking at a two hour drive each way.
I do like the older Vett's but I really can't see myself getting one. Her on the other hand would love a Vette of any year so I'm the one that is going to have too keep an eye on her! Her mother, father, two other brothers and all her other family likes me. It's just that one brother that doesn't. I'm sure that will change eventually though. I guess he doesn't like me cause her ex was a dick and he's being the over protective big brother until he gets to know me a little more. |

Hi BCT, Welcome to the group. I live about 13 miles from East Bridgewater, If you need anything you can get back to me. I have a 68 Chevy with a 350, red in color, with a 94 chevy stepside bed on her, with a 99 dodge comfortable bench seat. I am the parts replacement stage of my training, but these folks on this group are super to learn from

Re: Hello
Picked up the truck today, the rain helped with that a lot! A little more rot then I originally thought from the pictures but I did find out it has power steering which I didn't think it had. I thought it was a 5 lug truck from the picture I could see of the rear end but the front is six and the rear has been swapped out to something with 5 lugs that I'm not sure what it is. Also thought it was going to be coil rear but it's leaf spring. From looking it over really quick in the rain both rear fenders and both doors are rotted but I might be able to re-skin the passenger door. The drivers door is gone from the bottom to halfway up and around the top hinge but replacing that one wont bother me because someone thought it would be a good idea to cut a speaker into it. The rocker is gone on the drivers side along with part of the floor. There are a couple small holes in the drivers side of the bed but I should be able to fix those. A few holes here and there on the firewall and a small one on the roof where the drip rail is but looks fixable without too much work. The radiator support looks shot but I'll know about that better when I take it apart but it also looks like the bottom of the radiator is shot so I'm not sure if it's just chunks of the radiator sitting on the support that makes the support look like it's rotted. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the transmission yet because it used to be on the column but someone did a very bad job at putting it on the floor, hard to tell what gear it's in or if it's even in gear. We forgot the camera when we went so I won't have any pictures until tomorrow.
