New to posting in this site. Working on a 1980 GMC cab and was wondering if anyone knows of a site or has information on the door opening sizes of this cab. I am really looking for the distance between the top of the rocker and top of door frame openiing. Have installed new rockers and should have gotten this measurement first. Also the width of a stock GM door as I believe aftermarket ones are narrower. Thanks for the help

I'll take some measurements for you tommorow, I do believe our cabs are slightly different as far as doors are concerned than other cabs...

Gotta love the 80 front ends eh?

Not in Alberta, lol

You can buy NOS or OEM if you wish, but it will be really expensive in Canada...

I haven't been outside to the truck since, so I haven't gotten you dimensions yet, I'll have the time after school tommorow though.

While I was working at the gas station a fella showed up, and his doors were angled in a little bit more at the top, he was complaining about the 80s doors and how he was gonna replace them right away, may have just been a poor fitter

I guess we'll find out this afternoon...

I'm almost positive that the aftermarket doors are stamped narrower . We have good gaps everywhere except from door to pillar. Wanting the measurements to compare between factory OEM and aftermarket. The measurement from rocker panal to top of door opening (just under the drip edge) is just to confirm proper rocker panal installation height. Thanks guys. Any sights that may have measurements would help.

Alright, here we go

Please keep in mind that none of these measurements should be held to any degree of accuracy, its cold and early out, so I didn't take a lot fo time to do this, lol

This is the first position that I put the end of the tape to, top of the outer rocker panel. To the top of my door hole, it was about 49 inches, and to the chrome drip rail it was about 50 inches.

Included is a picture of where I put the tape to get those measurements:

For the second measurement, I put the tape at the bottom of the outer rocker, once again, I've included a picture of where I put the tape. It was about 51 inches to the end of the door opening and about 52 inches to the chrome dril rail.

I'm not sure what you are looking for as far as the the doors themselves are concerned, I can get you measurements if you want em though.

Thanks Russell Thats exactly what I am looking for. The door width is just the width of the door from edge to edge. Measured at the body line. Thanks again. - 40 here today, so cold that my 12 foot tape is now only 10 feet.
