Looking for ideas on improving gas mileage

Hey guys sorta new here, but I've had a love for these trucks since I could drive. I'm looking for any ideas on how I can improve my mpg. I have a 69 Lwb with a 350, th 350 tranny. I have acquired a two bbl stock carb to replace the thirsty edlebrock I have now. Planning on using a choker plate for now because I don't have a 2 bbl manifold. Someone said I can change the rear end to a higher ratio as well. This will be my DD until I get my regular up and running. Any other ideas will help a lot thanks!

Believe it or not, a stock quadrajet will actually do better than a 2 barrel. I think the biggest improvement will come from the driver. Simple things like coasting to a red light waaaaaay ahead, rather than keeping your speed to be the first one in line, and taking off with a light throttle.

thats what i was going to say, get a Q-jet go to swap meet there is usually several around, they have the small primaries and huge secondaries unlike the others with all four the same which should give better mileage.

Re: Looking for ideas on improving gas mileage

are you still using points and cond....if so, hei will help , rear end change could help if yours is like a 373 or 410. , 700r trans would help the most i would think, even with the rear end you have now...you did not say what your gears are now...
