1967 Gmc 3/4 to 1/2

I want to convert my 1967 GMC 3/4 ton to a 1/2 ton, are there any problems using the front and rear suspension out of a 75/76 Chevy or GMC truck? Are the spring widths the same on the 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks? Can I just bolt the latter model rear end to my leaf springs? Thanks

Thumbs up

You will need a 67-72 donor for those rear springs as the 73-87 trucks are a different width or you can pull 2-3 sets of leafs out of your leaf springs, you can unbolt any 67-87 Chevy or GMC 1/2 ton front crossmember with all suspension and steering parts still in place and bolt it in place of the current 3/4 ton one to do the front, 73-87 front suspension will have a 1" wider track width than 67-72.
Its also possible to convert the rear end to a trailing arm suspension also as a option for 1/2 ton though it requires alot more parts.
