moulded radiator hoses
Does anyone make a moulded upper radiator hose for a 283 anymore? I called Autozone, O'Reilly, and NAPA today and all they carry are the flex type. Does anyone know if Rock Auto or others might have moulded type?
Thanks in advance |

Re: moulded radiator hoses
Gates part# 20676 (1970-1972 Monte Carlo with 350) works great. You have to cut about15 inches off the "long" end, but it worked great for me. I am running a 1991 350 with the factory serpentine belt setup, with an aftermarket radiator that has the inlet/outlet in the factory location. If you look at my '64 build thread, there's a picture of the hose . It's about three pages from the end.

Re: moulded radiator hoses
What hose is going to depend on which thermostat housing you have. If you have the original style which points straight ahead and upwards, you will want hose #20607 from Car Quest. Some other manufacturers/resellers use the same numbers.
For the angled thermostat housing, I have had success with the upper hose for a '68 Camaro with the small/short radiator. The original upper 'hose' assembly consisted of a formed steel tube connected at each end with a short straight section of hose.

Re: moulded radiator hoses
With an angled thermostat housing, I used 1974 Chevy truck V8 hoses upper and lower and cut a bit off.

Re: moulded radiator hoses
Thanks everybody. NAPA here only carries the flex also and we dont have Carquest/Big A anymore. I will see if any of them can special order one of your suggestions.
Thanks again. I appreciate it |

Re: moulded radiator hoses
I'm using a Napa Auto molded upper hose. It has the straight ahead thermostat housing and the tube enters the radiator straight in the center. Part number is NBH 7240 and cost me $13.95.
