72 GMC Sierra Grande "She is Home" Pics!!!

Well guys.....she is home!!! I will try to not over talk this thing and let the pictures do the talking. I had posted some pics of this truck from the seller. I know the term "barn find" has been way over used....this truck is a true "survivor"!! My thirteen year old son and I will enjoy restoring this one. I will use this thread to update the progress. Enjoy the pics, please let me know your feedbacks, good or bad...I am off to put my first order together.....oh if anybody has a 72 "Sierra Grande" glovebox emblem, PM me!!! Also, any info on the "553" paint code?

Still has the original hub caps!!!

Brush guards, it is a West Texas "Thang"

I love this shot!!!

Has to be one of the cleanist beds I have seen, owner had a camper shell on it for years.

I know what you are saying "ball in bed", son said his dad installed it, but never used it!! Should be easy to remove.

Doors look great...original GM sticker!!

Shows a 09/71 build date....early production.

Both door panels showing some wear.

Not to bad for 40 years!

Looks like it has been gone for a long time. Anybody got one to sale me?

Pulled the plates off....solid on both sides. One quarter size dead spot on the lower drivers sides back cab.

Anybody with more info on the "553" paint code? Looks like Hugger Orange to me?

No hope for this steering wheel, new one on order. Hey, the horn still works!

Can still see the grease pen mark "489"

Looks like original stickers all over.

Clip is busted on tailgate...but it still has the original stainless handle cover!!

Odd find....part of the old exhaust pipe still in the clamp!

Code 553 is the 524 Red Orange (Hugger Orange) and 521 White conventional Two-Tone code. Not too sure what else you are asking for.

Thank you SS Tim!! I just did not see "553" on any paint chip boards for Chevy or GMC, just wanting more info about it. How rare is it?

Re: 72 GMC Sierra Grande "She is Home" Pics!!!

Rare is a very subjective term and on a GMC I am the wrong "Tim" (calling Special K) to ask. But the color is listed as normally a Chevrolet only color. It may have used only on the Sierra Grande RPO YE9 GMC trucks. It is seen a lot on Chevys though and a really nice color. This is by far a better choice than the blue and white not so Super Chevy you were also looking at.
