Re: Tach Help

Need more info. Is this a stock in dash, or aftermarket tach? Are all the wires hooked up? Also need to know how it is wired. Is this an HEI, or coil truck? Where is it powered from? Fuse box? More info please.

Re: Tach Help

Sorry its stock tach(or aftermarket from lmc but stock lookalike), i tried tracing the wires today, started at the distributor, followed through the firewall, to the fuse box, then it looks like its spliced and then i couldnt follow where it goes

Re: Tach Help

so it doesn't work at all? Then I'd remove the wire at the coil and totally clean up the connection and re-install,as a first step.

Re: Tach Help

Pink wire should go to a pink in the fuse box and the brown goes to the tach lead on the HEI. If you don't have an HEI, it goes to the + on the coil. If those are hooked up, you may have a bad tach.

The brown signal wire goes on the Negative side of the coil, when not using HEI.
