Steve McQueen's C10
Bad write up and not enough pictures but still "cool".
One or the other of these links should work... http://fxn.ws/11kcnFb http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2013/...ntcmp=features |

Re: Steve McQueen's C10
Neat truck. It says it first raced in '68 - must have been late '68, with a '69 nose.

? I'm not positive what chassis it really has, but it certainly has a C-30 cab.

Re: Steve McQueen's C10
I'm just quoting what I read.
http://www.mcqueentruck.com/ We found several sets of brand-new Goodyear R3 A/Ts in a Goodyear warehouse in Akron, Ohio. They are rated for 35 mph and haven't been made for years. |

Re: Steve McQueen's C10
theres another thread about this truck already. I asked there as well. Why a c30 cab?
i could see maybe doing the reverse for a strong suspension. But whats different about a c30 cab that would make it worth doing the swap? Or is the c30 cab something that was put on during the restoration not what it originally had? |

Re: Steve McQueen's C10
I've seen a couple c10s ordered with them. Might have been easier just to put a 30 cab on. Really just depends on the vin# weather it's a 10-20 or 30 anyway right? But unless I'm wrong the lights are the only real difference

Did this last week about the bogus C30 cab claims. See post #11. BTW: Only C30 DRW (RO5) optioned trucks came factory equipped with roof marker lights as standard equipment. They were optional on most others though.

I wonder how those fly swatters held up bouncing accross the desert at warp 9? I guess there was enough dust they were just for show....

Re: Steve McQueen's C10
I wouldn't get too thrown by the C30 cab thing. They also say it's a C10 chassis. Figure '69 was the first anyone saw a GM truck come with this type of clearance lamps with roof mounts. Articles have called it a C30 cab since way back. Each article goes off the one earlier.
I wonder what Vic Hickey had to do with Desert Dynamics? Both companies sold many of the same things. Cragar, huh? Did they make steel reverse rims back then? I sure don't recall. IIRC,Cragar made things other than wheels

Re: Steve McQueen's C10
Thanks, Like I said on the other thread they were available on C10-30. They were only standard on C30 with the R05 DRW option.

Re: Steve McQueen's C10
Vic Hickey also made some neat hoods for these trucks.....someone had a pic on here a while back, of a Blazer that had one. It seems that the center section was lower in front....reckon it must have not been anything McQueen wanted.
Maybe Rick Harrison (Pawn Stars) would be a buyer....he's nutz for McQueen!
