Why are there 2 battery boxes?

I need a battery box for my '71 C-10. I guy nearby is parting out a '68 Custom Camper so I went to get a few parts off from it. One the left side of the engine compartment, there is a battery tray. On the right side, there is what appears to be a battery box. Both are in decent shape. Which one is the correct one, if any, for my truck? Thanks.

Re: Why are there 2 battery boxes?

Aux (LH) box is part of the camper wiring option. All trucks had the RH side mount. The LH side box is hard to find in decent condition, not sure if it is a desirable option but I have seen WTB threads from time to time.

Grab both.If the driver side tray is the factory one you can sell it for decent money.

Definitely grab the left side tray to resell! They are hard to find and to the best of my knowledge no being repro'ed.

Re: Why are there 2 battery boxes?

there's a couple ways to wire 2 batterys. I have mine positive to positive, then positive tostarter, and neg to frame on one, and neg to engine on the other.
This gets you double amps, with 12 volts.

Just like every diesel pick up and rig out there.

Re: Why are there 2 battery boxes?

Had the left one in one of my trucks way back. Gave it away back then. I wish I had it back now.
