I wana drive 65.

well i guess this well be the build thread for my 65. Im not rear good at stoping to take pics but ill try. This was my daily driver for years then the old 283 just started smokin two much. It was a one owner dairy farm truck. long wheel base small window step with a goose neck welded in the bed.....nice. Well i want to make it a little more comfy for todays driving. I am doin 6 lug power disk.Power steering. small drop in front. serpintine belt. a/c. rear bags(from a Kenworth so i can tow) a lil 383 / 350 auto. leather. tilt, power windows. cruise....ect...ohh and Im goin to make it a short fleet big window.

Glad too see another build going on. Keep us posted. It sounds like you have a good plan. It was hard for me to take pics at first, but now I can't stop.

Re: I wana drive 65.

i pushed a little hard today.. I just has sergery friday but I just couldnt stand not doin anything for a week. but now it hurts.lol...

Ill clean the shop and take better pice. my 65 build has to share with the 71 blazer resto. so its alittle tight. but im glad just to have the space at all. I probly will cut a few corners on the 65 as it is to be a summer driver. but not so much that I will have to tear it down again.

Re: I wana drive 65.

not much but I made some progress. first coat of primer no parts. a little body work. also deleted the battery tray and fixed that little mounting tab on the drivers side core cover.

Nice work!! The hood looks really great. I've been starring at my hood for 2 days trying to muster up the motivation. You gave me some motivation, thanks. Now it's too late to go out and use it.

Re: I wana drive 65.

I fiinaly got it home. Its been out in the country stored for more than 5 years. Its time to get started. I am goin to weld on the back half of a sb frame to this so all my mounts and suspension will be set up and ready to go. I am thinkin about streatching 24 in total but Im not sure that is enough. I will be meauring my 98 ext cab to get a better idea. I would like other ppl that have though of doing this or have done this to chime in with any idea's. I would have to say yeah i should have done that.. I will be making it atleast a 3 door if not four. I want the rear doors to open to the rear like new extnded cabs..

Re: I wana drive 65.

I might have to make my way out to Bryan and see you build this thing, not too far from Ft. Hood.
