Re: 72 cheyenne 4x4 vs 72 Chevelle
if I didn't have toys to haul or tow I'd have a chevelle. Don't tell anybody, my reputaion depends on it.......

Re: 72 cheyenne 4x4 vs 72 Chevelle
Personally, I would have more use for the truck.
Plus, I would think the 72 4x4 with the Cheyenne package would be worth more than a standard Chevelle with cheap aftermarket wheels.

Re: 72 cheyenne 4x4 vs 72 Chevelle
I had to make the same decision, sold her and bought my k20 2 years ago. I love my k20 but my 71 chevelle was my first love and i shouldn't have let her go Take your time and make the right decision!

Re: 72 cheyenne 4x4 vs 72 Chevelle
I had a 70 Chevelle that had to sell, I wish I had it back. It was very nice everything was redone. That said I get more compliments on my truck than I did on my Chevelle. I vote truck.

Re: 72 cheyenne 4x4 vs 72 Chevelle
I'd take a truck because there are times I need a truck. Sometimes I wish I still had my '65 Malibu, but not if it meant giving up my truck.
But it really all boils down to which one you would rather have.

Re: 72 cheyenne 4x4 vs 72 Chevelle
i'd have to agree with the assessments above - go cheyenne! it's as much of a classic nowadays as the chevelle!, especially a cheyenne 4x4. I'm partial - used to have a 72 cheyenne - but what do you expect when you ask such a question on a truck forum! (Cheyenne Cheyenne Cheyenne Cheyenne... end of subliminal message)

Re: 72 cheyenne 4x4 vs 72 Chevelle
I would honestly say to sell the chevelle and get the Cheyenne 4x4 as I agree that the Cheyenne 4x4 is worth more than a basic malibu/Chevelle. The chevelle will be harder to replace, if you ever get the urge again. I could have sold my Chevelle several times, but the scenario is a little different. Trevor

Re: 72 cheyenne 4x4 vs 72 Chevelle
A restored 72 4x4 with the Cheyenne will bring more $$$ than a standard chevelle. I realize these are not restored vehicles but the potential is what I am considering. I would think the value of a 72 4x4 Cheyenne will go up verses the Chevelle. Now if that was a BB SS Chevelle...then that would be a different story.

Re: 72 cheyenne 4x4 vs 72 Chevelle
If the Chevelle was a '64-'67, I would never consider it, but that is preference and true value. I would say go for it bud......you won't be sorry! I am definitely a Chevelle guy, but I like the early models......different strokes, different folks!

Re: 72 cheyenne 4x4 vs 72 Chevelle
id agree id try to have both but if i HAD to make a choice id take the chevelle. i like my truck but when it comes down to it im more of a car guy. i had a 66 that i regret selling and still look for the right replacement. ya trucks come in handy but nothing like having enough room for the family to go on a nice weekend cruise.

Re: 72 cheyenne 4x4 vs 72 Chevelle
My first love is the yellow one on the right.
The blue one came into my life in the late 80s. The 4x4 came later. I never sold a Chevelle and can't even bear the thought of selling one. There are posts above about how they sold their Chevelle and wish they had it back. Don't do it. There are plenty of trucks out there that sell for a heck of a lot less than $8500. As a matter of fact, I'm currently adding on to my shop to begin frame offs on the Chevelles. The yellow one gets it first. It was my daily driver for 10 years including my high school years so you can imagine what shape it is in. Long story short, keep the car. Do a search on craigslist to see what it will take you today to replace it. Then look at the trucks. You can get a heck of a lot more truck for the money people want for a rusted shell of any Chevelle.

Re: 72 cheyenne 4x4 vs 72 Chevelle
I agree - keep the Chevelle. The survival rate on the trucks is much higher, so they aren't worth as much.
If you really want a 72 truck you can buy a complete running driver for less than $2K and build it yourself. Ray
