serpentine conversion - power steering gear box replacement

For my 1980 C10...

I have a GM stock style serpentine kit from SUMMIT....
I also have LEAKY stock power steering gear box...

Since I need a new gear box anyway, should I get something different to avoid having to use adapters etc on the power steering pressure line???

Recommendations for gear box and/or hoses?

I have heard people say "just remove the NEW hose connector from the new pump and use the old one..." but it doesn't appear removable???

The power steering pump reservoir and pump are separate components.
Download the power steering service training textbook from the 73-87 manuals link in my signature.

Steering gear box on the frame or power steering pump on the motor?

Re: serpentine conversion - power steering gear box replacement

I did this conversion from the junk yard and just used my stock power steering pump (79) with a newer style of pulley.

He was asking about changing the fitting on the pump so that's what I answered.

You could do it either way. The power steering pump fitting is cheaper to replace than the gearbox.

Since the gearbox is spent... I would get a 1980 gearbox that has fittings that match the hose for the 1980 pump... then you can just use the 1980 pressure hose.

The return hoses are real easy... just get SAE J2076 hose and some properly sized self compensating constant tension band clamps.

With all the capital letters, gibberish, and multiple punctuation marks, I don't know what anyone's trying to say or ask.
For late/early hose mingling, you can get adaptors, or swap the pressure fitting at the pump.
For a leaky pump, the iron ones are the same. A $10 kit and all is well.
For a leaky box, rebuild howtos are as distant as google.

Seemed easy to read to me.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
