Cowl Fitment
So I took off the cowl to clean the collected debris underneath out. Installed an aftermarket debris screen underneath the cowl and put the cowl back on. However, on the edge next to the bottom of the windshield, it sticks up a bit. It seems like it should fit closely next to the windshield, but mine has a gap and sticks up a bit. I don't remember if it was like that before removal. There are what look like two bolt holes on either end of the cowl and in the body piece beneath, but no captive nuts so maybe bolts didn't go there? Seems like a couple of bolts are needed to bring the edge of the cowl down close to the windshield.
How do others' cowls fit in this area? Do they have bolts in these two holes? Pics would be helpful. Thanks! |

C'mon, I know somebody has looked at their cowl before - I hope?

Re: Cowl Fitment
If you could post some pics I think you'll find the answer to your problem. I actually just took mine off on Friday, so I might can help. Without seeing what your talking about, I'm only guessing. Is it catching on the the wiper arm risers? How's it line up with fenders/hood? Cowl rubber gasket messed up?

Re: Cowl Fitment
did it get bent somehow when pulling it off or storing it?

Re: Cowl Fitment
It doesn't seem to be bent, but I just can't remember if it was like that before I removed it.
Mine doesn't have a rubber gasket for the cowl unless you're referring to the rubber strip between the hood and the cowl? I do have that. It's not hanging up on the wiper arm risers. It lines up fine with the hood and fenders. So other than the two bolts on either side and the screws at the front edge of the cowl, are there no other bolts or screws used to attach the cowl? It seems if there were some other attachment points near where the cowl meets the windshield, it would lay flatter. The cowl does have two additonal holes, but it doesn't look like bolts were ever used there. I'll take some pics this weekend. Thanks! |

Re: Cowl Fitment
Those holes you are talking about should have j-nuts clipped over them to allow for the installation of sheet metal screws through the cowl panel ant into the body. If you have a large gap, these may pull it closed. There are 4 holes like this if I recall.

Re: Cowl Fitment
Ah, that seems a likely solution to the gap problem. So there should be four holes on the cowl and four holes in the body where the j-nuts would attach?
