Newbie 1963 Chevy C20

Hello, my name is Eric and im very much a noob to the classic Chevy world so please dont mind the stupid noob questions. I currently own a 1963 Chevy C20 and i am quite honestly more familiar with the classic air cooled vw cars, but ive changed my mind i a Chevy guy, even though i still love the vdubs. More pics will come soon and i hope to be as smart and as informative as everyone else here, cheers. More pics and detailed info coming soon.

Welcome aboard! Lots of great resources here. Make sure to check out the FAQs, there is a ton of material there. The project builds are also great for seeing how others are working on things.

You'll notice you rarely see a 63 grill with both headlight bezels intact. Nice truck.

Ha thanks, I do have both headlight bezels actually but i dont have them on right now. I guess this truck was hit in the past and I just leave them off since right now it needs to pass a brake & lamp test to be road worthy. Im also thinking about painting the grill and bumpers the same color green, yes no maybe?

That's entirely your call. I personally like a little contrast, so I would vote no but I've seen a lot that are all body color too. Looks like a nice solid truck. Congrats on the find.

Welcome to the forum

That's a pretty nice looking '63. If you are wanting a painted grill and bumper, might I suggest selling the aluminum grill to someone. You would have no problem selling those. Then just get a plain steel grill to paint. It would really be a shame to paint an aluminum '63 grill. Of course I am assuming it is an aluminum grill and not just a silver painted steel grill?

It is aluminum, i'll more than likely leave it as is but i wouldnt feel bad at all painting it if i ever chose to. Painting a grill isnt like cutting it up and can be easily taken off. Thanks for the input though. Just have to find the right silver for the rear bumper now...

Thank you, perhaps you're right about the contrast, plus i really dont feel like prepping the bumpers and grill haha. I just picked up the rear bumper but its white so I only have to paint that. Thanks for the input.

NO.... the bumper and grill are chrome for a reason. it must be a custom. don't jack with it. if you go all stock they look so sharp!

The grills aren't chrome...They are anodized aluminum, was the way the factory sent them. Nice looking truck and always glad to see a new 63 here.

The chrome front bumper is actually not part of the "Custom" option. All '63 "Custom" trucks originally came with a white painted front bumper. A separate "V 37" option needed to be purchased to get the chrome front bumper. Here is a '63 C20 with the "Custom" option and the V 37 chrome bumper and hubcap option.
