Engine rebuild-Rod Bolt Installation question?

All,

We are rebuilding a 67 C10, and have decided to put a 350 SBC in it, circa 1993. We have ARP "wave" bolts to put the rods back in with, but some sites essentially say they will damage the bearings and a machine shop has to rebore them. Does anyone know how much of a problem this really is or is it people being overly concerned? Can it be done "at home" without remachining the rods?

Thanks.

Mark
