Alright my cab is in primer today and is set to be sprayed next week so im pumped and i was going through my parts deciding what needs to be painted when i came across my parking brake.... its the hand style parking brake and i DON'T like the way it looks. I was wondering if anyone knows whats involved in switching over to the foot operated version? Also, if anyone has pictures of the hand operated style that look good please post them because as it stands i think the thing looks goofy there but im open to suggestions on ways to make it look better if thats possible.

Also, if anyone has a foot operated parking brake they want to sell or trade let me know.

On a side note, i have the type of gas pedal thats connected to the floor and want to buy a "dress up" set of pedals ..... does anyone know where i cam find these? If so please post a link.

Cool, let me know. Will the floor style bolt right in and replace the hand style? Sorry if this is a stupid question but im a stupid man.

i dont know for sure but I know on the parts truck i took apart the foot pedal just had 3 bolt holes under the dash that it bolted to. i would think just reroute/lengthen the cable. might check under the dash and see if they are there.

I think the firewall holes are diffrent for each,but I'm sure it can be done to switch.I have a 69-72 E-pedal setup

I kinda like the hand brake - it's different - like the foot-operated dimmer switch! You might hit your hand brake with some glossy black and see what it looks like painted.

I converted my '67 to foot brake. I'ts been awhile, but I know I got a cable for foot pedal from a later model. I had to cut the rectangular hole in firewall for the rectangular grommet that's used, and two holes to hold the front part of the foot brake assembly to the firewall. I had to do a little bending at the dash attachment point, but nothing that is noticeable. I can't remember for sure, but the holes I had to make may have been about where the stock fuse block is. I don't remember because I am going with a complete different wiring harness. I welded up almost all the old holes in the firewall and don't remember where things were. I'll try to find some pics that may help. I think I can add my pic now:

I have a Lokar unit w/brake cables that I will be selling as soon as I find my receipts. I got a good deal on it. The reason I'm not using it is because my roll cage will be in the way so I will make a custom center console and use one of Lokars pull type mounted there. Here's a picture:

WOW, thanks for the info Larry. It looks like alot more work than i thought it would be. My cab was suposed to be a 3 day ordeal at the body shop but it was since been there for 2 weeks now so a project like this would throw my schedule too far off.

I guess i'll just keep my eye out for a creative way to dress up the hand operated brake.

If anyone has any pics please post them.

No problem, thanks for looking Chuck. It looks like i'll stick with the hand operated one for now. I'll just try and find a creative way to dress it up i guess.

Do you have the cover? If not try a WTB on the parts board. I think they look better with cover.

No i dont have a cover .... i didnt even know one existed until i saw this truck. Is that a cover i could buy from a board vendor or is it something that was custom made? If one of the vendors sells them then please let me know who and what the part # is.

I dont think they are being reproduced, but you should be able to find a used one.
