71 rear end interchangable with a 66 rear end?

I have a guy interested in a 71 5 lug 12 bolt rear end and he was wondering if you can swap a 66 axle from a 12 bolt rear end into a 71 5 lug rear end to make it 6 lug. I had no idea so I thought I'd ask you guys. Are they interchangeable.

No... Different lengths 65-69 were one length and 70-81 another... assuming 2wd c10

Look at the year ranges that the axles fit.
