Busted tie rod?
Basically, I've been working to get the 16.5 x 9.75 rims with 33's on the truck...(Post pics later) I got some BB springs in last week to raise it up a bit , cut the front of the fender down so I could turn and not rub and found this...
I know the pics are kinda crappy sorry but, I did drive it a little while back with some other springs too tall for it but I just noticed this as I was about to get the tire back on and take it for a test drive. I had been buying pieces to rebuild the front end along with this but hadn't gotten everything yet. The DD has to go to the shop so, I was needing to drive the truck this week. Because its not sitting square with the spindle, did I bust that tie rod end?

Re: Busted tie rod?
...Well, I kinda figured that would be a good sign too but, since I gotta drive on the highway...I'm hoping to avoid out 'n' out breakin.

Re: Busted tie rod?
It was probably mis-adjusted somewhere in it's life. When the adjuster sleeve was loosened to align the front end, it was turned like that and never straightened. Then the sleeve was tightened and left like that. It is not good for it to be that way. It puts more stress on the joint from odd angles.

Re: Busted tie rod?
it is normal for them to pivot some...that does look a little extreme though. Is there any play in it? Put the tire back on and move it back and forth (the direction it would turn with the steering wheel) and watch to see if the spindle moves and the end does not. If there is lots of wiggling, the your tie-rod end is bad.

Re: Busted tie rod?
Thanks guys...was just about to put it back on...I picked up the inners awhile back and have been meaning to replace those too...If there little to no play, I'll try to hold off a bit but make it a priority after this week.
