Suburban Rear End Questions

Did some searching, but couldn't find the answers, so I'll just ask...

I have a '72 C10 350/350 (2wd, 5 lug) suburban with no listed rear end option on the glove box sheet.

I have a '70 C20 350/ 4 speed (2wd, 8 lug) suburban with "no slip rear end" on the glove box sheet.

My questions are.....

1) What would the gear ratios be for each 'burb?

2) Does the "no slip" mean it's a Detroit locker?

3) Are these interchangable?

4) What differance would it make if they are interchangable?

I should also mention that it is the '72 that I am currently restoring. I'm thinking no slip would be good for the '72, cause who want to see just one black mark on the pavement!!

The 1/2 ton with a 350 would have come with 3.07 gears. Are you sure it doesn't say no-spin? That would be a Detroit Locker. I would also guess that the '70 has an Eaton with 4.10 gears - also could be 4.56.

If they are both coil spring rear ends i think they will interchange. However you would have 5 lugs on the front and 8 lugs on the back.

I was thinking of swapping just the locker and gears if that was possible, or just the locker, not the entire housing and everything, although they are both coil spring trucks and it did momentarily cross my mind!!

The internals are completely different and won't swap out.
