What did you get done? 12/31 New Years edition

I had a busy week and a pretty hectic weekend. We are preparing for our annual New Years party and fireworks show and spent most of the weekend chasing down supplies.

I did manage to spend some time cleaning up my garage. I bought a new roll around chest from Sams Club to store my cleaning supplies in. Eventually I plan to buy another one and put a drill press on one and a band saw on the other.

This got me motivated to clean that side of the garage and hang some more stuff on the walls. Before it got dark I detailed my daily drivers, and wiped down the 77.

N2TRUX,
I've got the exact same toolbox in your bottom picture......I assume you got your's at Sam's Club as well?!?!?! I love mine and much cheaper than the "name" brand ones!!!!

My son and I got the bottom of his cab spreayed with Vortex, I serviced the Duramax and cleaned the garage.

Take care,

Misled

(my wife just pointed out that you've got the same stainless table next to it that I have!!!)

Actually I just realized that everything along that wall came from Sams. Even the stool and shelves came from there...

Re: What did you get done? 12/31 New Years edition

I've had a busy week that will finish up tomorrow! I took my new 81 C-10 and pulled it into my friend's shop to tighten the flexplate. Much to my dismay, the flexplate had practlilly come off the torque converter, requiring the plate and the torque converter to be replaced. Having never worked on a rear wheel drive before, it seemed like quite a daunting task.

I ended up getting the thing out in about four hours with the help of my little bro and a friend. Those stinking upper bellhousing bolts. After a trip to a computer to find a solution on the forum. (Thanks for the tip krue!) We installed the new plate and converter. On the very last bolt, the threads stripped out at 20 ft/lb! I was pretty unhappy to say the least. It turns out that the parts guy gave me bolts that were too short... So after a trip to the parts store, we have decided to clean up the threads and try longer bolts. Its gonna be a happy new years for me if this ends up done tomorrow!

I'll repost with the results tomorrow.

Happy new year everybody!

Yep I built a motor over the weekend. It took like a total of five hours. I must be a master engine builder now, or something like it. I build a better motor than I take pictures. You get the Idea

Neat little engine ya got there. I didn't do anything but go and buy some new briefs, and bought to new DVD's. Also looked through the local truck trader for my new ride. Still looking though and trying to save up more so I don't have to take out a huge loan.....Mike

howdy all! I've been working on a 40 ford for a friend, that's been fun! Cleaned and arranged the garage better, although it would be hard to tell. Trying to make it more efficient. I dig that cabinet and tool box. I have a Mac from 16 years ago and I'll never buy another one! I'm trying to find the pics on this puter of the 40, crap...

Re: What did you get done? 12/31 New Years edition

Worked on the '55 truck most of the weekend. Had to fill 56 holes in the stock firewall, and have the column mocked up with the correct drop and depth. Still alot of filling to do, and may continue it today.

Went to a friend's place yesterday for New Years Eve. Most everybody brought their campers and set up camp on their property. We rode dirt bikes all afternoon, jumped lots of stuff in the Rhino, and watched Dust to Glory sitting around the campfire. It was real nice hanging out with our friends. Everybody gets along great, and nobody drove home until this morning. I'm looking forward to next year.

finished my 91 grille conversion, added a B&M tranny cooler, changed tranny fluid & filter and picked up MSD ignition (6A, blaster and 8.5mm wires).

Otherwise took it easy- 2 young kids with one on the way limits our possibilities for debauchery. Happy New Years everyone!

Re: What did you get done? 12/31 New Years edition

Friday I went to my Grandmothers funeral, it was in Hobbs, NM. Got there via Amarillo-Lubbock. I actually drove down there on Wed.

Sat drove 10hrs back via Lubbock-Witchita Falls hauling a 5'x8' Uhaul trailer with a washer/dryer, sleeper sofa, coffee table, end table and a 4 cubic ft freezer (FULL of food).

Sun I built a 3' wide x 4' long x 2' deep box to store all the tools and garage stuff I had in my laundry room.

Mon I moved everything from the trailer into the house.

The washer and dryer still arent hooked up but should be tonight. The freezer had food in it that was mostly all expired.. had some that expired in 1998, and had some parmesan cheese that expired in 1979... everything will be thrown away except maybe for some pecans..

My wife went with me but the kiddo stayed home and it was good to get away and to see the family....the circumstances weren't the best...

The wifes blazer did fairly well.. after the wind let up we got about 20mpg and with the trailer at some point we were getting about 15-16..pulled the trailer just fine. Certainly would not want to have done it in my truck.

Yeah it was, but I figured it would be tough for her to drag the box under the tree. Instead I just waited till after Christmas and bought it myself.

Re: What did you get done? 12/31 New Years edition

I have been MIA for a few weeks on the board. Our Internet connection was down for about 4 days until it could be repaired. Then at my house we were shutting the power on/off for some demolition.

During the weeks around Christmas I decided to get new flooring for the house (before the baby gets here). I pulled the old flooring up to discover rot (actually Level-it) in the floor. Upon inspection the rot went down to the foundation. After pulling off the sheetrock we discovered that the window sill that was bad leaked to the center of the windows in the wall and rotted all that out. I ended up having to remove the complete window/wall section in the house down to the foundation before and after Christmas. We almost have the floor back together as of yesterday and hopefully we can get back in the house soon.

I had planned on spending this time working on my projects to get the running. BUMMER.

If I missed any posts, shot me a PM, and I apologize for any inconvenience. On top of that, I haven't been getting any notices of PMs....

Here are some of the pics..

I got my Cavalier running a little bit better and screwed around with my brothers jetta and got some of his lights working again. Also cleaned out my cavalier of all the garbage and junk. My aunt and uncle and my cousins stopped by Sunday and stayed until Monday afternoon. It went pretty good.
