Nice to see some pix of the dash. I can't take credit for the idea of putting the dash in. I wish I was that creative. I got the idea from somewhere on the board.

I've got a few questions.

1. Are you just tacking it in place for now?
2. Which column will you use?
3. Have you put the column in and lined it up? Make sure you use the same column that you fit.
4. Which seat will you use? Put it in along with the column and sit in the seat and get a general feel of how it lines up.

Suggestions
1. I also ran an alignment string from post to post measured the same height from the floor as a reference to keep the dash level.
2. Walk around the truck and view it from all angles.

Keep the pix coming we also need to see the other progress that you have made with the floor repair.

Re: Daverods project 66

Its just sitting there for now. I just finished getting it to fit good. I put it and out like 20 times. I'm sure you know the process. I want to put a tilt col. Any ideas on one I can get from the junk yard? I have my seats they're kinda like yours I think it's call 40/60 split. Craigs list special $50

Re: Daverods project 66

that dash should be mandatory for all vehicles
did you know that they are so popular that they make a fiberglass dash that bolts into a 69 camaro, and accepts that guage pod?

Re: Daverods project 66

Hey daverod,

What a concept.....

The dash was about the most impressive thing I remember about my old '59 Vette. I would have never believed a person could lay their hands on a orphan dash or make it work in a '66 pickup. My hat is off to ya and I bow to the master.

It's TOO COOL for School.

It's a 59 Impala. Check out Allans classic I got the idea from him. He's the real master. I'm just a protege. P.S I love my dog too. I just hope I get my truck done soon enough so he can go for a ride in it.

Re: Daverods project 66

I stand corrected, I can see now that the dash is made of metal not fiberglass. But when ya get to be my age, the vision ain't so good and my last two braincells don't always pull in the same direction....

I wonder thru life half unconscious and maybe my Sometimers was acting up when I viewed the photo.

BUT IT"S STILL COOL and I'm more than impressed.

Still Bowing to the Master...

Re: Daverods project 66

What I did today. When I welded on my corners I failed to notice that there was two walls in the back of the cab, or maybe I did and did'nt think it was a big deal. When I was done I looked inside the cab and if I looked down in the corners I could see the ground. The thought of stuffing a rag in there crosed my mind Any way my fix was to close off the gap between the two walls. I guess I could have torn everything apart. It might have been easier. It would have been easier. Anyway I need the welding practice and where else is a better place to get it. At least I won't be sucking dust when I go bombing down some dirt road.

Re: Daverods project 66

I painted my cab and frame in primer today. At first I had to crank the pressure up to 100 psi to get my gun to work. After I painted the cab I took the stupid little air filter I bought off. It's made to collect water in the air line. When I painted the frame I turned the pressure down to 45psi. It worked great. The filter was really blocking the air flow. Now I can finish mounting my dash. Then it's time to sling some mud. Later Daverod
