NOS versus repro fenders, how to tell the difference
How can I tell NOS 60-66 fenders from GM reproduction fenders? I have a chance to buy a set of fenders locally and the seller is stating they are NOS but before I lay out the cash I want to make sure they are the real deal.
There was a posting in the classified section a few months back for some NOS 60-66 fenders and the differences between NOS and repros were discussed in that post but I can't seem find it now. Thanks.

There should be a 2 digit year stamped into the top rail (the area that bolts to the inner fender) of the fender if it is oem.
Greg.

Original fenders are easy to spot. They have either large rust holes or a pound of Bondo in the lower rear corners...........

Re: NOS versus repro fenders, how to tell the difference
I went and looked at those 60-66 NOS fenders today and they weren't. Even though they had GM stickers with part numbers they were definitely reproductions. The inner bracing was a thinner gauge steel than what GM used and the shape of the bracing was noticeable different at the bottom of the fender. Glad I didn't lay out $650 for $400 worth of offshore made fenders.

X3 Aint it the truth! I have also noticed the repro's being thinner too. Good luck. I'd be looking for a set with rust and then a welder.
