Re: quick header question

The application says they fit a 62-66 chassis

Assuming you have the standard "D" shaped exhaust port of most aftermarket heads,, the Headman 69099 header is the correct 'listing', But I can't find a thing in the Headman line that says the DO or DO NOT work with angle plug heads.

(edit: actually just found a note in the slummit 'application' listing them as fitting GM Bowtie angle plug heads. May be exactlyt the right fit, but HEADMAN does not say for sure)

Re: quick header question

i can see from the routing of the front and rear tubes it will clear the plugs easily. i'm having on heck of a time finding something long tubed listed for my truck that would work on a lower budget. i've been thinking hard about trying to tackle a weld up kit so i can make it work.

Re: quick header question

While the Hedman 69260's will work with angle plug heads, I'm pretty sure they will hit your motor mounts. The Hedman 69090's will definitely fit your truck, but I don't know what plug cleaeance will be on #5 & #6. One set of inexpensive headers that I have read that will work with angle plug heads is Hedman 69230. They are designed for a 4x4 application, so I don't know if there will be any issues with a 2wd.

Re: quick header question

concerning the Patriot 8021 headers

I have a 1965 Chevy C10 long bed with a 350 and angle plug heads. It also has stock motor mounts and perches, factory power glide, no power steering. I had serious trouble finding a header that will fit and no one seems to document what fits and what doesn't fit. This is what I experienced with these headers. The passenger side has no clearance at the rib in the firewall where the flange and collector marry. In order to make the header fit the firewall flange will have to be hammered down. Number 4 and 6 cylinder plugs can be installed but you can't get a 5/8 spark plug wrench on them as the tube from #2 run underneath that mess blocking the socket. I guess if your in a bind you could remove the headers every time you change plugs. The mock up I did the plug wire boots clear the header on all cylinders 2,4,6,and 8. The driver side #1 tube hits the stock motor mount and perch, so I couldn't mock this side up. I guess if the motor mount was changed it may work. One of the headers tubes is bent/thinned from the factory and die grinded to facilitate bolting to the cylinder head. More trouble down the road as the stamped material is thinner. I returned this to summit with no return shipping charge.

I'll now try the Hedman 69260.

BTW I also tested a set of used Hooker Header for a 64 Nova ..They bolt up on the passenger side but the exit port centers the transmission cross member. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ho...model/chevy-ii for the 65 they need to dive to clear the cross member. The drivers side was completely a non fit.
