Painless not so less
Well I planned on finishing my under dash hookup but ran into a problem. When I turn the key on the wiper motor run and don't turn off till turn the key off. I check the grounds and everything is good. Hope someone can take the pain out?

And it does not matter what position the wiper switch is in? Sounds like a bad switch or a hot wire hooked to the wrong side of the wiper switch.

 the hot wire is hooked to the wrong side of the switch

we used a painless harness in '68 camaro and the wiper motor on would not shut off , turned out to be the wiper motor itself . the part of the wiper motor that parks the arm in the correct place was stuck so it woldn't turn off.

My guess is that you have the power and the ground wires reversed. Seems like that is what I did wiring up my buddys 442 with a painless system.

So what happened at Hooters.....
seriously, check the wiper motor and switch, (as mentioned) recheck the wiring to the switch. I used a Pianless in my Jeep and it worked out great, just wish I had bought the terminated kit. |

You ready for the answer?
Install the wipers. Okay, let me ask the question first.... DO you have glass installed with wiper arms?? If not, there is your problem. Seriously. You need that resistance (friction) to stop the motor. If you grab the shaft with a shop towel and hang on tight, when the motor gets to the 'parked' position, they should stop. Hey, give it a try. If you have all the parts in place, then nevermind. I don't know.

The reason I say this is because when I was working on making the delay wipers into "kit" form, I had a spare wiper motor on the work bench for testing. And it did the same exact thing.
I clamped it in the vise, then tried hanging onto it and it would stop where it needed to. You can install one wiper arm (even without glass) and try that. Just hang onto the wiper arm and give it a little pressure. The comment above by 63 & 64 Bowties may be misleading. On the switch, there are NO hot wires. The switch contacts are for 3 different ground wires. When these wires are contacted to ground it makes the different functions happen. The switch completes the ground using the dash. See pic below..... In the second pic, the yellow wires are power to the wiper motor, the blues adn black are ground wires headed out to your switch.
