I don't think the trucks came with the marketing name hugger orange. The paint code for 71-72 orange is 516.

The paint code for Hugger Orange is 524, it was called Red-Orange, or Orange-Red I can't remember right now. My 72 came with it.

I always thought that the Hugger part of the name was added later also.
I would like to see a build sheet with the Hugger name on it
The color code is 524
The original paint chips refer to it as Hugger Orange
It also states that it is a 1972 Chevrolet color only

I was of the belief the "Hugger" designation was a Camaro name for the same paint code....but I could be wrong....again.

Just wanting to compare the two shades of Orange that Chevrolet used it 72.
If people could post pix of their trucks in the two shades, I could make up my mind what color to paint mine.
My 72 Super (In my Avatar) is the 516, but is original, and faded.
I need to see a pic of one with fresh 516 paint.
Also need a pic of fresh Hugger Orange paint to compare.
griesel72, are you saying the pic you posted is hugger orange?

Please

Darren

Are you saying that is Hugger 524?
Or Regular Orange 615?

This is turning in to an interesting thread, I really like the orange trucks. Imdarrin, could you post a full size pic of yours? I know it's faded, but it might shed some light on the issue.

This is my 72 Super.
Regular 516 orange.
This is when I first got it home.
I tore off the antennas, and got a new front grill / bumper since this pic.

Imdarren

the first truck i posted was a hugger orange painted in july 2002 for a 1972.

This truck is a 69 tangier orange, i believe 516 (but don't quote me on that)
