i am switching colors on my 69 and wondered if there is a way to cover the option sheet when painting?....i know you cant tape over it,but has someone else been able to save this when painting?

My 71 has a clear plastic sheet over it and I believe that it came that way from the factory. I have seen others like it and most are 71 and 72 models.
My 68 does not have this, it is just a paper sticker with nothing to protect it.
If I were you I would consider putting some of the clear plastic like the later models have to cover it then it would be preserved in the present state.

Get clear sheets of sticker. The kind you can use to stick together to laminate something. Stick it over the sheet, then tape over that to cover it. Make sure the tape can come off easily, and it should be fine underneath. When you are done painting just pull of the masking and leave the clear cover over the option sheet.
