The Blue Goose
Well, Ive decided to make a build thread, About a month ago, I got my drivers licence (16), wanted a lil toyota pickup truck for along time, dad talked me into the truck I have now..a few houses down, an elderly gentleman had my truck in his yard for sale $2500 OBO..went and looked at it..didnt like it, came home looked at fixed up models...and since then, fell in love. Few days later, went up and offered him and his wife 1500 cash...and after a lil chit chad, they accepted, went home started cleaning it up a bit..discoverd a lil rust..and the paint cleaned up good with some polishing wax....a few dings and stuff...but watcha expect I only gave 1500 for it! Get made fun of quite often for driving the 'blue goose' or as i like to call it, the 'rice rocket' lol. But heres some pics..havent really done anything..to make it look better yet..
1968 Baby blue LWB bout 80,000 orig. miles (well a lil less) [IMG][/IMG]2wd 3 on the tree ________ motor. Different motor than original, a lil bit newer, (so ive heard) rebuilt motor. Was at sonic the other day..and a older lady next to me rolled down her window and hollered, 'what kinda truck is that?' 'a 1968 chevy' i replied, 'do you like it' 'oh yeah, its a very pretty truck, for somereason i thought it was older though' 'THANKS' alotta people dont care for it much... but so far all ive done is clean it up best as posible, pull the trim off, bunch of new stuff under the hood...pull the junk speakers out from under the seat....and the 6cd changer...pulled the head unit and for now have the wiring ran into the glove box.....lookin to get new bumpers mirrors fix all the incab rust and patch the trim holes up and get a decent radio (dash was cut by man b4 me) and some kick pannels or cut the doors for speakers...thanks yall! john ^^thats of dads project that he aint started in 2 years lol tis been in the family since 53 gonna make it a true 'rad rod' maybe restore it or streive for the patina look lol

I wouldn't be able to make myself pull off that trim. 67-68 trim is beautiful.

Re: "Rice Rocket'
You "stole" that truck for 1500!
I agree with TX, the 67-68's look great with the trim, plus, it hides the different colored paint. Unless you plan on painting/priming it soon, I'd leave the trim on and get it running/driving 100%

Re: "Rice Rocket'
I love the color. If you have the trim I thinnk they look really sharp with the factory trim.
I see you are working on the "important" stuff now, the stereo. Ahhh, to be young again.

Re: "Rice Rocket'
i think for being 16 you got one heck of a ride there, and i like the color, get a little pinstriping done to it and lower it with rims and you will have a ride that girls will want to ride in!

EXACTLY what I think! The color combo is so classic it hurts. That truck was meant to have some fuzzy dice, a "couple" extra horsepower, and some pin striping! perfect for the drive-in. only thing to make it complete would be a bench seat so your chick can get cozy with ya

Re: "Rice Rocket'
It's probably cheaper to jsut get your current bumpers chrome plated instead of buying some.

If your trim is in good shape I would be interested in it - from the doors to the front.

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Nice buy! great looking truck. Why would the kids make fun of you for having that? all the kids in my grade at school, they drive civics with missing front bumpers and a SICK cowl induction hood and boost gauges for the turbo's they dont have. Not to mention the guys that drive del sol's.

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Great find ! I personally like them without the trim, unless it's in perfect shape which used trim seldom is.
After the stereo, make sure the brakes are in safe working order. Have fun !! |

If you move the 3 OTT to a floor shift, it will be much more fun to drive.
