Angry My project is turning into nightmare

When i bought my truck i figured it was going to be a quick project and have it ready for school, but as we started working on it bad stuff started showing up. The PO wrecked the truck and we didnt really think much of it when we bought it, but the cab is bent in and we cant get the rocker and cab to line up with the door. And there is still more I dont want to complain to much.

Re: My project is turning into nightmare

Im going for looks and i will try to get some pics. We fixed it some by putting a ratchet strap on it and attaching it to the frame and tightening it and it worked pretty good. It looks alot better than it did before

A nightmare is when you go out for a drive in your '70 CST SWB fleet and a c- clip decides to snap right before the axle comes out and ruins a rust free factory quarter panel. Then you go to pick up your '70 in your ramp truck and the 396 loses oil pressure and starts knocking on the way back and you have to have both of them towed home. (ask me how I know this!)

Re: My project is turning into nightmare

Don't know about interchangeability, but a buddy of mine has a 70 GMC CAB with the corners and floorboards replaced and completely sanded down at his place. I was thinking of buying it but mines not that bad. He's in Cleveland, OK and I'm sure he'd let it go for a couple hundred bucks. He's done with projects and just getting rid of a few small things. I pretty much have dibs on everything else. Let me know if your interested.

I might be interested in that but I think were going to buy this truck for a parts truck. He's got a brand new tilt chrom steering column, New gauge cluster, and i could use the grill and grille shell, and its got power brakes unlike mine. It sounds like a good deal to me.

It has a 350 with 700 OD transmission. And is a 700r better than the 350th? Because I am thinking about swithing them out because my transmission wont go into gear until it warms up.

He was selling the truck for $2000 and he lowered the price for us down to $1200 and if the cab is in good shape i might just use it. And its a AC cab.

And also the engine in this truck is out of a early model 90's chevy and my engine is out of a 85 and i was wondering if those parts would fit on mine? Like the belt system, headers

sounds to me like your current dd may just be the new parts truck, because if you intend on using that truck as a parts truck basically the only thing you arent using off that one would be the fenders and frame.

Re: My project is turning into nightmare

I found a cab that someone had replaced the corners, rockers and floorpans on, as well as the supports......then, they decided to cut the drip rails off. Oh, they cut the dash out of it and have a '95-98 dash laying in its place.

They had good intentions, but "stuff" happens....
