73-87 SPID question

Did the SPID cease to be located inside the glovebox door at some point? If so, anyone know the year cutoff? Thanks very much.

Re: 73-87 SPID question

Some 73 to about 77 were on the inner fender

All the later ones right up to 91 seem to be in glove box

May have varied with assembly plant

And this is just what i have observed...

Agree.

There seemed to be some variation by plant, but my recollection is once they went to the glovebox ('81 to '84 timeframe) they stayed there for the remainder of the product cycle.

My '80 was on the fender, my '87 in the glovebox. Both trucks built in Flint Michigan.

Re: 73-87 SPID question

Awesome - thanks for all the help guys. I'm a 67-72 guy by trade (and a 60-66 I guess), but sq bods are growing on me! Been poking around for a 76-79-ish K20 and was speaking with a little old lady that has one for sale on the phone, trying to direct her where to find the SPID (she insisted on going outside and looking for it - with emphysema, I BEGGED her to not worry about it, but she grabbed her LOX bottle and went wandering out into the driveway anyway, hacking up fur balls all the way, I felt horrible...) ANYhoo, she said the glove box was bare, so I didn't have the heart to ask her to look under the hood. She might have keeled over... Thanks again for all the replies, you all definitely answered my question.
