what's this wire for?
Anyone know where this wire might go? It was flopping around under my dash when I pulled the instrument panel.

Re: what's this wire for?
looking at the wiring diagram the only *orange* wires under the dash are for the heater, stop light switch, and dome light.
*edit

Re: what's this wire for?
There's a ground wire that clips over the edge of the dash - behind the cluster on the right side of the column (pretty much above your knee), in the cluster hole - BUT it's a black wire. I see a splice in one of the pics and skinned wire on the 3 way plug there so it's possible somebody been messin wid da wirin'.
Are those plug in circuit breakers there? I just went through my harness (cab and engine) - if your that far into it, it'll give you a warm fuzzy after you pull it out and go over it (the harness).

Re: what's this wire for?
I just put mine back in yesterday after about a week of redoing and i don't remember seeing anything like that.
Mine 69 had a tach gauge but no wire, might it be for a tach?? I'm not sure how the factory coil tach was wired in, mine was a HEI when i got it. |

Re: what's this wire for?
If it is for the cigar lighter, it is missing the black bplastic cover the keeps it from shorting out on the body of the lighter plug.

Re: what's this wire for?
Thanks guys. I'll take care of it. I never use the thing but it's kind of nice to have every thing work.

Re: what's this wire for?
That wire has a different end on it. That is where my glove box light is plugged into

Re: what's this wire for?
Scratch that I think that there is a kit that will allow lights for the floor area and they plug in there. There is supposed to be a black cover on it. At least that is how my Camaro was hooked up.
