Big block pulley alignment?

O.k. guys, I've got a 402 with a short water pump, and a power steering pump off a '80's something small block truck. I don't have the mounting bracket for the power steering as it was broke when i got it. I thought about changing to the long water pump, but then i would have to buy new pullies as well, and still not be able to mount the steering pump. If i keep the short pump, then would i have to find a different steering pump? Whats everyone using for the new style steering pump brackets? Am i better off to change to the long water pump? And where's the best place to buy brackets, pullies, etc, without giving my left arm and my big toe? Any pics would help also. Thanks guys!

Re: Big block pulley alignment?

Small block and big block power steering, and alternator stuff does not interchange. Also long or short waterpump parts do not interchange either. What is best is to find all of your parts, alternator brackets, power steering brackets, pumps, and pullies off of the same motor, wether you go long or short pump. Least expencive is long because there is more of it out there. WES

Re: Big block pulley alignment?

Thanks for the advise Wes. One more question....all i have is whats in the pic. I know there is different style steering pumps, but are they all interchangable after the '72 style? The pump that i have is off a '84ish truck. Do i need to find big block brackets for the mid 80's so my steering pump will work? Or will any long water pump bracket fit with my steering pump? I guess what i'm asking is all long water pump brackets the same?
