Hey all,

I added power brakes to my 68 a while back, when I did the disc conversion. I also got two support bars for the booster. One is a round bar, the other is flat, they're both curved at the ends, where do they go? Any one have pictures?

Here is a picture of a 71 setup. It is probably different from the 68 but it is all that I have.

I took a snapshot of mine before I took it apart, I got old timers disease.

Thanks for the pics guys, I'll take a look and see if I've got the holes for the other end of those brackets, being it's not a power brake truck originally. At least I have a good idea where they go now.

TJ, you probably won't have the holes. IIRC, the braces showed up in 71.

they go to existing bolts. IIRC, the flat one goes to the top bolt that holds the sheetmetal collar on the bottom of the steering column, and the round one goes on the top bolt of the e-brake assembly.

I looked at a 68 today and there were no mounting holes for the braces. I believe the braces came later than 68.

The 68 has a hand brake so there are no studs sticking out for the rod to attach to. On my 71 the mounting hole with the built in nut is in the firewall below the steering collar as seen in the picture.

If you want to use the braces on your 68 it appears that you will need to locate and install the attaching points. If you want any measurements for the attachment locations, let me know and I will get them for you.

I put the braces on my 67. The flat one does in deed go to the firewall where the column exits the cab. One end is at the MC (on the outside if i recall) and the other end mounts to one of the 3 bolts that hold a tin to the firewall. The rod mounts from the outside edge of the booster bracket to a through bolt (I had to add this on my 67) located near where the cable exits the cab.

Also 1 other point - there are long supports and short supports depending on what style of mounting brackets you have. You must have the proper items all the way around.

And I also think(know) they weren't used in 67/68. Not sure about 69/70. And am quite positive they WERE used in 71/72. But however a good addition if you don't have them. I recommend them.
