kick panel speakers
I have a 69 C20 that I'm putting a stereo radio in. It doesn't have plastic (Or any other material ) kick panels. Several vendors carry kick panels with speakers built in for $120.- $150. Does anyone have any experience with these ? Is the sound quality any good ? Do the kick panels block the air vents ? Any suggestions/recommendations ?

My 70 GMC came with a set. Radio has never worked so i can't comment on sound. But I can tell you that if you have a foot op parking brake, you can bust the tweeter clean off the driver side very easily if you aren't super careful.

I would grit my teeth and cut holes in the doors or locate them somewhere else; like previously stated, they are a PITA for the E-brake, and also for the dimmer switch on the floor. I bought some from Brother's, with the "better" quality speakers, and I was not impressed with the sound; I got rid of them and put speakers in the doors. People have fabbed up thir own on the board, but it's a fair amount of work and you still have the same issues. I would not recommend them.

I bought mine from Dan42 and could not be happier! A little work with a dremmel tool and they fit like a glove. Way better than cutting holes in your door IMO. As far as the e-brake issue, just grab ahold of your ebrake pedal, give a pull to the passenger side to bend it a little, and voila, rubbing issue solved. I rarely drive at night, and when I do I hardly use the high beams. The few times I need to hit the dimmer switch it really is no big deal, other than pushing my foot in a little harder. The sound quality of the Pioneer speakers is OK, but I changed them out for Infinity, and the sound quality is a lot better. The speakers are only 5 1/4" so you can't expect it to sound like a symphony.
