Brake Booster mod (smaller or closer to firewall)
So what had anyone done for getting the brake booster closer to the firewall as well as shrinking the booster down to what size?
I would like to get it close as possible to the firewall rather than having it stick so far out like OEM. Any kits out there anyone recommends. Thanks |

Re: Brake Booster mod (smaller or closer to firewall)
Seems some guys run just a master cylinder with no booster like a Wilwood and have no issues. Others use a smaller 8" dual diaphragm booster for more braking power.

Search some threads by Delmo, I know he did a mod on a truck or two where he removed the brackets and put the booster right on the firewall

I found that a 73-87 booster will bolt right on to the firewall if you cut the top of the bracket off and drill 2 new holes. Looks much better to me.

thats what I did. I had to cut the rod down some because when you throw it into park it would hit the booster and not fully engage into park.

If you want power but less size, the Hydro boost looks like it would be a good choice. There is a thread on it somewhere.

Re: Brake Booster mod (smaller or closer to firewall)
A member here used to sell a bracket that moved the stock booster closer to the firewall.
I was going to buy one, but I lost his info. Maybe someone remembers his name...?

Re: Brake Booster mod (smaller or closer to firewall)
Love you truck Big Al !! I'm running the same master with a booster and a manual prop valve . My question is , what's the pedal feel like ? Is it much harder to push to get the same stopping power ? Thanks for the pictures
