Big Parts Swap Today, or why I'm hurting....
Today I put my dually together. I pulled my 72 long wheelbase dually apart and switched everything over to a 68 dually frame. I wanted the shorter wheelbase of the 68 frame. This gives me a 133 inch wheelbase, but with a disc brake suspension off the 72. I also am using the 292 and SM465 out of the 68 truck too.
I was alone today, so I did it all by myself, which is a bit of a stretch. Wresting the front suspension and engine and that heavy 4 speed around is tough with just 2 hands. There are sore muscles and bruises involved. I sure hope tomorrow is a quiet day at the station, I'm afraid if I had to fight fire all day, I'd be in bad shape. I may just volunteer to ride the ambulance just to make sure. By the way, that's just a camera angle, the fender isn't touching the tire, it just looks that way.

Randy, it was 78 degrees here today. And, I'm still having Kansas bad weather flashbacks sometimes.
If ya'll want to move down where the weather is better, I'll even bring my trailer up there and help ya'll move down. Man ain't meant to have to wear coat and gloves when he works on his old trucks.

You know the metal must be heavier gauge in the 67-72s because I just did that maneuver with my tractor and it pinched the window channel in the doors together at the top just enough so that the window will not roll up all the way. Could be just my dumb luck I guess. Does anybody know if the steel is lighter gauge in an 84 chevy to be exact. Looks like fun though tex. At least you didn't have to round up three of your buddies and each grab a corner.
By ther way -20 air temp right now here. If we can just keep them Canadiens out of this thread I might feel like I actually have something to complain about.

Too late! Gotcha beat today
And yeah, the 73-87 cabs are not as strong as the old cabs, you gotta stick a 2 x 6 (or 8) through the two open windows and lift on the ends of the board, this makes sure all the force is directed straight upwards rather than inwards as well

That loader makes a hell of an engine hoist, trailer mover, and general all around parts hoister. Down side is the 84 thousand dollar price tag. If we didn't use it for doing stupid stuff like loading dump trucks, it probably wouldn't be worth the cost
