1972 c10 conversion to a LSA powered k20 build thread

We just got this c10 project into our shop "MetalWorks" in Eugene, OR.

We will be taking this stock 72 Chevy 2WD and converting it into a 4x4 that is powered by a new GM Performance supercharged LSA engine connected to a 4L85 transmission.

Check back on our progress...should be a fun one.

You can also see updates at our site: http://metalworksclassics.com/

We got busy at the tearing the 72 down right away so it could head off to our in house acid dipping facility.

Re: 1972 c10 conversion to a LSA powered k20 build thread

Here is the cab when it came back from our acid dipping shop. The cab is very solid and straight, we only had to reform a few small patch panels. The outer rockers were very nice, but we will be replacing the sill plates.

The rest of the truck's components are back from our acid dipping facility...this is one nice and solid truck...one fender has some old work that reviled itself, but overall the truck is in great shape.

We took delivery of the 4X4 chassis we will be using under the 72...looks like a descent stock frame.

Subbed! This aught to be fun! I always wondered why there was never a lot of supercharged k20s.

A few pics showing the work done to the firewall...we filled in some extra holes, then smoothed off were the heater core was as we are installing a Vintage Air unit.

Though the truck's body was very solid, it had some previous work hidden under its paint that had to be addressed. Off to body work next...

With components in various stages of body work we test fit the cab to the 4x4 chassis.
