Edmonds WA show today pics
There were only two other trucks of our vintage besides mine today in Edmonds but their real nice. The first one you will see is an orange 67 that won its class. The truck has been done for only a few weeks. Here is the first picture:

Here is the second. You can see the top has been chopped 2 inches. I overheard the owner say the body shop has 1500 hours of body and paint work. It really shows well.

The body and paint work was done by Extreme Metal. There were three vehicles at the show I know they did. All high dollar. Here' a shot of the engine.

OK, one more picture of the front. I didn' get a good shot of the back but it has a tribute to Earnhart along with an airbrushed picture.

Thanks for posting. 1500 hours? I hope the owner did not have to pay the going rate for body work. By my calculations that comes to $84000!

My calcs are pretty close to that at $82,500! I will bet he did!!!! Unless he owns the shop or got some pics of someone...LOL! I was told by a guy at Hot Rod Fabricators that has a national show winner that most of the contemporary "National Show Tour" competitors are between $150,000 and $250,000 investments! He might have been blowing some smoke but at the hours and rates I hear, I would not be surprised.
BTW...very nice trucks!!!!!!!!!! I like that Orange color but I have heard from a very good source that your truck, chevy71super, is awesome and a perfect restoration!

I think that your truck is by far the winner out of all the pics posted.
You must have a lot of hard work in your truck and it shows. The 4x4 swb is my all time favorite truck and you have got one fine example.

I like yours!
Wild custom-big buck trucks are nice to look at, but I like a nice truck the owner did most of the work on and he takes it out and drives it. Your SWB 4X4 will probably be worth more than those customs in a couple years, too! Nice truck...bring it down sometime.

Thanks guys for the compliments. The orange truck is simply one of the best I've seen but your right, it takes big dollars. When I was doing mine Extreme quoted me $45 an hour. I found a guy who does quality work for $35 but you have to be patient. Still cost me more than I ever imagined.
A couple of people I spoke to at the show said there should be a separate category for those who do most the work themselves. Difficult to prove some times. I can prove that I did most of mine, I have the pictures of the truck in pieces in my garage and hospital bills to prove it! (Never grind metal without safety glasses on.) The next show I am going to is at the end of the month in Snohomish. I hope to see some of the Washington posters up there. Thanks again. |

CEVY71SUPER............Is or was your 4x4 ever for sale? I saw a truck exactly like yours on a friday night out on 99 a few months ago. This was before I was a member of the board. If this was you.............NICE TRUCK!

I've had the truck for about 10 years. I bought it from a guy in Idaho and it hasn't been for sale. I saw a long box 4X4 for sale the same color a couple of years ago in Monroe. I overheard another guy at the show say he saw this truck for sale so there may be another one like it. (Or it could be my wife trying to sell it on the side, she thinks I like the truck better than her . . . )
It may have been me on 99 if I was just crusing down the street. I had my exhaust put on at Pro-Max in Everett. Here is a picture of the truck in my driveway. |
