electrical question-painless harness
so there's one thing stopping my painless wiring harness install from being complete. the radio (a Kenwood CD deck) won't turn on when the key is turned to accessory. other functions work with the key in accesory, and the radio works just fine with the key in the run position. anyone know of anything obvious that i could be missing before i go to far into the harness? thanks

I have the painless harness and have the same problem. I would call the company. I actually finished my truck just before shipping out for 1.5 yrs and just recently got back to the states. I am going to find out if it is the harness or if there is something I can do.

Off topic but how hard was it to install did you do it from no wires or did you retrace the stock wireing? How long did it take? And any pics?

I would have to say that the key on signal is either not routed up to the radio or the fuse for that circuit is missing. Maybe even need to route a wire up to it for it to work properly. You will need to remove the radio and get access to the radio pig tail. Check for power, key on and ground signals.

Striker-
Don't have any pictures. I started with no wires at all. I completely pulled the original harness out prior to starting. The instructions that come with the painless harness make it very simple to install. I would advise you to keep your original harness until you are finished, some of the original plugs, etc can be used. Don't remember the time I took, but I would say it is an easy weekend project.

good to hear i'm not the only one with this problem. prolly won't get around to calling painless tech till next week, npiliot--keep me posted if you call them.
ackattack-i havent tested everything yet, but an electric fan will operate with the key in acc. (i have mine wired to an on/off switch for now with no thermostat switch). striker-it was a very easy install, the directions are thorough and the tech line people are very helpful. i called them a couple times as i was modifying the harness for some of the extra stuff i have in the truck. i also used a bunch of MAD electrical 's stuff, again very good products and tech help. hopefully i'll have some pics ready in the next week or so.
