temp gauge reads hot

i put in new sending unit in the head and gauge always reads hot but temp is really about 190 - 200.
its a 70 chevy custom


any ideas

It sounds like you got a sending unit for an idiot light dash. They'll read full hot, when hooked up to a stock gauge.
