Thoughts on this 1951

My search continues and this truck looks intriguing. Any thoughts comments? Doesn't look like there is too much info on the build-chasis used, etc.

That is a stock frame. See the stock ebrake hoop. front looks like a dropped stock axle. Leaf springs on all 4 corners. nice looking truck! tiny pictures can be very decieving though.

Prices are all over on these trucks it seems, but with a stock frame it seems 23k is high-thoughts on a fair value?

It really depends on what you like... Prices are all over, because quality and taste are all over.

If it were me, i would be more drawn to it than a sub frame clipped truck or an s-10 swap. Period correct traditional cars don't go out of style like street rods do. Its all about personal preference and what its worth to you. One thing you know is that you don't have some failed abortion going on up front. If the straight axle is done right it should be very drivable.

Those pictures are tiny, without seeing the truck who knows...?

Could have a $20,000 paint job/ body work or a 1000 earl scheib special. If the engine and tranny is solid you've got anywhere from 3-8K in those new. If i was in the market, I wouldn't have a problem paying 20k for a truck i liked if it is my taste, as advertised, really clean work and no surprises.

It sounds like you are really new to the hobby, no worries... My advice would be to scour the internet, find a local car club, meet some knowledgeable people/ shop owners and learn before you jump in. Take some of your new buds along to check out what you're looking at. It will payoff in the long run.

Just my opinion but i dont think thats a $23,000 dollar truck. it looks like a long bed for 1 and i think who ever built it must have been colored blind. yellow motor, light blue chassis and grey body??? that a first. its easy to slap one of these trucks together with mixed matched parts and put it on craiglist as a show truck. you can build one yourself for way less money than that. and know what it has in it. if this really is a $23,000 truck than the owner should have receipts to back it up. again just my opinion.

I don't think it's worth 23,000 but then again it's not my truck. The mismatch colors and stock frame aren't that impressive, I would look around before investing that kind of dough i think you could do a lot better. just my 2 cents

23k! wanna buy a duck!!! head down to the portland swapmeet in a few weeks and your gonna find plenty of trucks to help you get idea of the market. find somebody and take a drive in a stock one: that will give you some idea of what these really are, old trucks that ride like old trucks with a splash of bling!

When/where is the swapmeet?

I'm looking for a truck I can rely on and drive on the weekends or throw some little league equipment in the back and take it to a practice every now and then.

I also want it to have some power and obviously be safe/built well.

I have noticed a trend, lots of people say it's a "$40,000.00" truck and then list it for 20k. Too funny.
