Remember kids, too much horsepower is just enough.

That's a lot of grunt right there. Should be just about right!

I think those typically dyno 550-600 to the tire. With instant torque. I'd like to drive something like that just to see what it's really like. I figure I'm making an easy 700 flywheel hp with the turbo 5.3, but it's just different to the brutality of N/A power.

Yep it's cool ,BUT what are your plans for the frame to handle 3x the HP it was designed to handle ?

Well, at a point this engine was not part of any plan. I came across a deal I couldn't refuse, originally I thought perhaps going with a 502 but I paid far less for this beast than I would have for the engine I was looking at.

Now, in regards to power vs frame strength...that certainly ran through my head! As the title says "over kill" there are few trucks out there with the set up to stick that HP to the ground without some heavy mods? My unit won't see a track and a good majority of those ponies are going to end up as smoke coming from the rear.

Now, with that being said...how many trucks on here have hooked up this kind of power and had frame issues? What are you running, what were your issues?

I'm at a stage to address these issues and welcome the constructive advice. But man, I can't wait to hit the gas on this thing!

Re: 572/720R over kill, yes! But such is life

We have that exact same motor in a 69 camaro. Recently did a holley efi. Changed intake to a holley efi intake, running waiste fire coils vs a distributor (i looks like distributor but coils are mounted in back) and tuned on e85 made 630rwhp through a tko600. Thats around 750-775 at flywheel. The intake i feel made a huge difference. Btw it revs like a ls motor now.very fun to drive now and doesnt have any slow responce like it didnt with the dominator 1150 carb.either way, way more power than anyone every needs on the street and will shred the tires in all 5 gears easily
