AC Compressor for LS

Hey guys, hope this is in the right section. Im swapping a 5.3 from a 2000 Tahoe into my 69 c20. I am replacing the AC Compressor and was trying to figure out if all the ls compressors pretty much are the same. I found this one from amazon that fits an 05 silverado but looks to be the same as far as the lines. Can someone please confirm if this would work or not.

Heres a pic of my stock one if it helps. Only difference i can see is mine has a pressure switch on the back which im not going to be using anyway.

No they are not. At some point they switched to a variable compressor. You need the non-variable. If you are going vintage air they finally have one that will mount on a ls. I have a non variable gm stock ls compressor with my vintage air... pain to get right but works fine. None of their fill volumes were right.

Thanks for the response. . I have read that the truck compressors were fixed displacement. Im more so worried if this will bolt up to my motor and run on the stock belt. I mean they look the same, but i cant find any answers in my search. .

Also im running an old air system that has been in my truck for a number of years now. just plannin to have the hose ends changed to work with the LS compressor.

Re: AC Compressor for LS

I believe it might be when they went to the 4th gen that they went to the variable displacement. Vintage air doesn't have a new compressor. They are using the tried and true universal sanden compressor. They designed some brackets to bolt it in the stock location. Between the brackets and the Sanden, you would be in for 3-400 depending on where you purchased the compressor from.

Thanks thats what im trying to avoid. . I did all the work of moving my motor mount and such to keep the compressor low and stock to avoid buying a bunch of brackets. . the reason im looking at this compressor is it is only 160 bucks shipped and doesnt have the pressure switch on the back, plus has the right line ports for the lines i have. Im a little lacking of knowledge here. . 05 is not Gen 4 correct? this compressor shows to fit mainly 03-09 vehicles and a few 2017's.

thanks again

4th gen did start in 05. But the variable displacement compressor may have started in 03. Bet if you called the dealer they could tell you

Re: AC Compressor for LS

I'm almost certain that it will bolt on. Pretty sure the parts guy at the dealer will confirm that also

Based on my findings from calling the dealer and online searching I went with an ACDELCO 1520941. It bolted up to my stock 2000 LS bracket and has done well for me... the clutch wiring was pointing toward the side rather than back so it cleared my motor mount better. I have an old air Hurrican AC unit in my truck and my blower motor went out recently but up until then, my ac has been working well and once the blower is replaced I expect it will work well again.
