timing problem

i got my timing tab put on today. and me and my friend set my timing with his timing light. its supposed to be 8 degrees stock right? well mine is WAY above that now, because anything lower than 12 degrees and the truck dies.

Stock for my smog is 4 degrees. Are you using manifold vacuum at idle?

G,
did you ever recurve your distributer, if so do you still have your timing set at 4* and do you get spark knock at WOT. what kind of gas do you use.

i guy on C/T told me that the XE262 in my truck builds alot of cylinder pressure and i probably need to run super unleaded. i am going to try that next, i have put super in it before and never noticed a difference in performance or milage but that dont mean i didnt get any change, i may have just not noticed it.

anyway back to my original reply, mine is set at 4* and i still have very minor clatter at WOT but dont during regular driving even playing around unless i open it up
