how bad does this hurt me?

when my dad took the truck and had the mufflers replaced, they put 2.25" pipes coming out of the muffer! how much would that hurt my performance instead of 2.5" pipes? doesnt matter because i have a little tiny pinhole exhaust leak where one of the pipes comes out of the muffler and i'm just gonna have a shop replace them with 2.5" pipes. i was just wondering how much it would hurt performance wise. |

They may actually help. Dual 2.5" pipes may be overkill on your engine, and may cause you to loose some torque.

i agree, you'll be fine. you setup isnt quite hot enough to warrant 2.5" pipes.

There is a breaking point for the horsepower (kill or build), you are right at that point. I personally would have run the 2.5", because it would have been easier to build in more power without a change again later. What did yu put in for a muffler? That is the deciding factor as to what you can really acheive in power after the exhaust headers.

I dont think its hurting you too much. But I disagree that 2.5" pipes are too big for your setup. Might not be pro-street but its a nicely built small block.. I would go with 2.5" too... I have a pretty mild but healthy sb400 and I went with 2.5" pipes...

I agree with plumbcut. I would think that it's not hurting and that the 2/5" would be fine. That's what I'm running with the X pipe.
