So here's the history. I got this when I was 15 (32 now) and it was supposed to be my sweet 16 truck but Dad got carried away. It got too nice and Mom put a stop to the money spent. Well, high school came and went, college came and went, the first home came and is still here. Basically life I guess. I finally got to a point where I could pick back up and get this thing finished.

Life started out as a 70' LWB but we cut it down, put 68' nose one, and put a step side bed on. It was oiginally painted 90' S10 green. 305 Tuned port. Full Street and Performance billet engine accessories.

Plans are to switch out the step side for a fleet side, repaint it black, keep the 305 for now until I can afford a LS1. The main goal now is to get it painted and get it driveable. I may not have the interior exactly like I want but at least I can take it down the road.

Suspension will be a cool ride air in front, with air over leaf in the rear. Later I may look into a drop member with full shock waves but again, I want to get it driveable.

It will be a fun project and be a nice driver. Not daily but often enough. And remember, blacks not a color.....It's a lifestyle!

Pictures of the motor.

I'm painting the block/intake a silver that will match the wheels.

Intake, runners, billet accessories will be chromed.

Compressor/Alternator/PS pump will also be silver.

I ended up having to buy a couple of new idler brackets as S&P changed the design. I also changed to a Type III PS pump which tucks in closer to the motor.

Exhaust manifolds are ram horns from Speedway. I'll smooth them out and get them coated.

Looks very nice. Personally I hate to see the step side go!

Paint looked good, did it need new paint or are you just not digging the color anymore?

Dad 'surprised' me with the color. I always was a fan of black. I ended up selling the bed which was in 99% perfect condition to a fellow board member. He ended up painting the rest of his truck the same color it was in such good condition.

The biggest part of the bed I hated was there was no way to run the size of tire I wanted without cutting the inside of the bedsides. And with the ribs that ran horizontally it wouldn't have looked right without a lot of work.

Front 4 3/4" and rear is 5".

I also have the CPP Modular spindles that bring in the wheels a little on each side so I think I run less backspacing than most. The front end is something out of a mid 80's truck. Easiest way to get 5 lug disc brakes.

At this point basically waiting on the painter to get done. Taking a lot longer than it should but what can you do, right?

I've been mocking up the engine, exhaust (nothing fancy), and have the fuel system mostly setup.

I had to clearance the motor mount to use these headers. I also wanted the tuck the exhaust up as much as possible.

Next steps, gathering parts for the engine, getting it repainted (silver), then getting it running. Hopefully by the time paint is done it will be just a matter of setting the body on and start putting on parts.

This is an awesome build with a great family history. I actually like the tweed door panels.....so if you want to get rid of them I am close and can take them off your hands. Your truck is looking great with the new wheels/tires.
I think your flat bed is a short wheel base one ton. Who is doing your paint? the fenders look great. keep the updates coming.

Looking good. Personally I wouldnt change the TPI. I would maybe change the block out from a 305 to a 350, but I would leave the TPI especially being since all the electrical is already done. Those are good setups
