Talking 1971 Cheyenne: Instrument Wiring Harness ID

Good Afternoon,

Will post a pic when I get home - but wanted to ask the following question.

Where on the fuse block (or perhaps it installs with another cable mated to it) do the Pink 20 and 12 Gauge wires mount? I did look through the wiring diagram and searched the forum without any luck.

Thanks,

Frank

Thanks Kel.

Is the Fuse Block reversed (view from the rear)?

Also - where do I see where 20p connects?

guess you can use the other wires around it as reference.
the 20P looks like ti goes to the cluster connector plug

Re: 1971 Cheyenne: Instrument Wiring Harness ID

Hi Kel,

I think it is reversed in the picture. So I looked it up in the schematic as well.

I believe the 20Pink and 12gPink connect to the unswitched fuse terminal, below the instrument cluster gray wire terminal.

The original owner had the A/C plugged in there and had all feeds (lighter, instrument panel lights, and the pink ign/fuel feed) on the unswitched terminal. I switched them back - everything appears to be working fine.

Thanks for your help.

Frank

Re: 1971 Cheyenne: Instrument Wiring Harness ID

You are correct! The 20pink/purp and 12pink go to the same terminal as the "ign unfused" lugs in the fuse panel. I removed the connector from the bulkhead connector shell and replaced the little pink/purp wire with a 12ga pink one to the HEI plug. It looks factory! NAPA has the connectors new for about $.50 each. Numbers are 425145 and 425147.

best wishes,

Les
