Re: CL find
Hey, take that CL link down! I offered that guy $65,000 and I think he's considering it!!!!!
I once came across a 1968 panel on CL and the listing price was $25,000. I called thinking "must be a mistake" but no, the guy said "25K." Talking with him I got the impression his wife wanted him to sell it but he was making sure he wouldn't. |

Re: CL find
That's a pretty neat set up, and I bet he has a ton of dough in it. But it is against board rules to post someone's ride (possibly a member) just to get a bunch of comments on how off base you think the person is. Lets pump our fellow truck owners up, not slam them.

Re: CL find
I think that is a nice ride, it sure is shiny. I read this thread several times and I just can't see a slam anywhere in it, at all. Was the offensive post removed by a moderator?

Re: CL find
Obviously I don't know OP, but I do know this board, been around awhile. Usually when this type of post is put up it turns in to an S-storm. Because we see the typed word only, not the inflection of a real voice, it comes off as a bit of a dig on the price ... Not sure he will get his asking price. From there the pile on often happens. And many times its been a board members ride.
Edit: BTW I am not a perfect poster myself. I get an occasional note from a mod. I just noticed it was OP's first post and tossed my two cents worth out there ... yes, you get what you pay for =)

Re: CL find
Oh, OK. I have not been around as long. I did not see that as controversial or as a dig. When I see stuff with a high price tag (like that is for me), I just wonder where people get all that money, but I realize it's all relative. Some people have really cool stuff.

Re: CL find
That truck looks immaculate. He may get close to what he's asking, the truck is pretty much unique and seems ready to hit the road, which is what someone with $$$ would want.

Re: CL find
He might top that price if brought to a Mecum Auction. Very nice setup to say the least. I would have a problem asking for less if it was mine. How about the day when wife says it has to go. I might just drive off in it and call it a day. NOw how about if the front cab and clip was polished aluminum too...Better buy some stock in polish.

Re: CL find
Very cool rig. I wish they had posted some interior pictures of the camper and the trailer. Way to much money for me to buy it but I could see how it might be worth all that. When I went to register my 71 after a restor a few months ago the state with their infinite wisdom wanted to tax me on $11,000 book value. I said " on a 45 year old stake body dump truck?" The clerk said oh yes that's a vehicle of "special interest" . All this without even seeing a picture. So that camper plus the enclosed trailer is really special interest. Might be hard to find the guy with that much special interest and that much cash to back it up.

Re: CL find
Though some are shocked by the price, that truck is beautiful. As far as the price? Take a look at what a new one that size, along with a very nice toy hauler costs nowadays. RVs aren't might thing but it would be neat to drive around the country for a few months carrying my Harley along too.

Re: CL find
A 5.9 cummins would make that truck perfect. Really a nice setu. If he's the one who built it up (or had some one else do it) im sure he's got pretty close to what he's asking in it. Those airstreams are pretty expensive to restore/ renovate, let alone the camper on the truck. It's more than I'd be able to spend but very nice none the less.

Re: CL find
As for me, I've spent over $5K just on skydives, parachute rentals, and crash-related hospital bills.
If the owner reads my posts and gets mad, well, he/she has that right but I hope they understand it's not personal. My apologies on board rules---thanks for letting me know and I'll try to do better. |
