67-70 round rear view door mirrors - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I like the looks of these mirrors, originally on the 67=70 trucks BUT are they practical? Can one actually see out of them?
I see a lot of people using the 71-72 on the older trucks once they have restored them.
just like to hear some comments on people using the old round mirrors.

I like the older style, and I even have large convex mirrors on mine. I fnd them WAY better than the later ones personally, and gives a bit of a vintage look

I had both the round and retangular head mirrors on the 70. They looked good (especially the round) but I did not find them very practical, especially the passenger side which tended to vibrate alot. If you could swap the heads oput with full size convex that would help, but the arms tended to vibrate like crazy. It also seems like the mirrors were too close to the truck to get much of a view, especially if you had a side mount spare.

I am going with large trimount mirrors when mine gets back on the road.

i have the little round ones. i can't see in them worth a crap, myself. i go nuts, too concave, stuff looks unreal in it.

I have the stock mirror bracket on my '68 with a little larger than stock round mirrors. The work fine. I just can't stand the though of drilling for the 60's era trailering mirrors. But there's gotta be a nice alternative somewhere.

you mean there's something back there to see?! the only thing I can think of has bright flashing blue and red lights. and those show up nicely.
seriously though, I have the original size and style. I can see good enough for the most part. I mainly use them to check for next lane traffic and parking lines. mine dont vibrate. do aftermarket doors have any bracing inside for this? does original doors?

67/68 were round and 69/70 were rectangle head.What`s coolest about these mirrors,to me,is they are carry-overs from the old trucks.Look back at the previous body-styles and the same mirror was used,but designed for the specific body.The Advanced Design-style we asymetrical.The 71/72 spost or "car-type" are used alot for the slicker car-look.Can`t see nutin`outta dem needer.
