It scares me when people do this.

So I was out cruising with my daughter earlier with the top down in my Blazer when the owner of a local restaurant chain hit me up about buying my Blazer because he's been looking for one for awhile and he REALLY liked mine. When he asked me what it was going to take to buy mine, it scared me because #1) I love my Blazer and I don't think I could ever sell it and #2) How do you put a price on something you labored over for such a long time. I was afraid to tell him a price because I thought he would call my bluff. Anybody else ever have this happen to them?

Happens all the time. There isn't alot of blazers around here so she attracts quite a bit of attention. I usually just thank them for the compliment and tell them it's not for sale.

Didn't that happen to johnoro at a car show?? If I recall correctly, he threw out ridiculous price and the guy pulled out a wad of cash.

EDIT: Yup... here's the thread: LINK

Re: It scares me when people do this.

I get it a lot - in fact, twice last week. I usually ask them what they want to offer and it us usually an ultra low offer. I haven't had anyone truly serious. When I first got it, had two offers at $20K - but nobody produced $$$.

Re: It scares me when people do this.

A friend bought one that way... Offered the guy 17K for it on Thursday, the guy jumped all over it. Sunday he was offering my buddy 20K for it and it had not moved a foot. The difference...... it had won best in show at Super Chevy in Gainesville FL. Fred said the guy freaked when he found out he was "driving" it back to Tallahassee because it was to low to pull onto my trailer. Super nice baby blue 67 SWB Fleet with a big block. Never put a number on something you can't part with.

Happened to me last year. I named 25K and the guy actually thought about it for a while. I figured for that $$ I could go out west and pick up another one.

Agreed, I had a nice offer recently, but when I asked
him how serious he was the conversation ended.

What is kind of funny though is when you are ready to sell a car or truck those people are no where to be found.

True, True!! I use to get that all the time with my 97, But most of the time it was early 20s kids trying to look like a player in front of their friends and girlfriends..

Never fall in love with them. Set a price that you would be happy with and throw it right back at them.

Happens quite often. My Blazer is part of the family, when I die my son member JesseH13 will be the owner and I know he feels the same.
